Industry Training - delivering value
We know industry training delivers value - to individuals, employers, industries, and taxpayers. Now we want others to recognise that more.
We've just released a new resource which gathers together the proof to clearly show what great value industry training is.

 Cost of completions
Did you know that a qualification gained through an Industry Training Organisation costs taxpayers about a quarter of the cost of equivalent qualifications gained through other tertiary education organisations?
We've done the maths (and had it peer reviewed by respected economic agency BERL) and the results were even more interesting than we thought they would be.
The two key reasons that industry training is able to deliver quality training in such a cost effective way is the support (in kind and cash) from work places and industries, and the fact that trainees in the industry training system do not access the student loans and allowance scheme.

 VET IT
Those of you already familiar with the Industry Profiles Tool developed by the ITF might be interested in our latest offering to bring useful information together in one easy-to-use resource.
The Vocational Education and Training Information Tool or VET IT is now available on the ITF website. It is an Excel-based resource which brings together vocational education and training statistics and information in a way that makes it easy to look up things like trainee numbers, gender and ethnic details. There are also links to relevant pages on external websites.
 Another successful research forum
The seventh annual Vocational Education and Training Research Forum is now done and dusted and every bit the success that we have come to expect and enjoy.
Ako Aotearoa director Dr Peter Coolbear said in his superb opening address that the forum had become the best of its kind in the country. More importantly he reminded participants that good research needed to drive change. That's why we choose presenters for this event with research that can help deliver a more skilled and productive New Zealand.
Thanks to all those who came to the forum. You can now access the presentations on our website.
Also thanks to our forum partners Ako Aotearoa and the Department of Labour and our sponsors - Business New Zealand
, Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission and Education Directions
 Upcoming events
The bad news for those who haven't got around to signing up for the e-learning and Literacy & Numeracy seminar on 12 May is that it is sold out.
The good news is that registrations are now open for the NZ Workforce Literacy and Learning Forum in Wellington on 10 June. The forum will look at what has been achieved over the last few years in workforce literacy and numeracy and explore how these interventions can become sustainable.
