It's a sell out

It's a sell out

It's clear from the huge interest in tomorrow's Qualifications Forum that there is a widespread desire to improve the qualifications system.  The forum, organised by the Industry Training Federation, sold out within two weeks of being advertised and has attracted a mix of people from the secondary and tertiary education sectors, government departments, peak associations, and business.

“While people’s ideas on how to achieve that might differ, I don’t think there is any doubt that we have too many qualifications. There are around 6000 qualifications in New Zealand, which is far too many for most countries let alone one with fewer than 5 million people,"  Federation Executive Director Jeremy Baker said.

Papers from the forum will be available on the ITF website next week.

Maori Wardens from across Auckland are completing the a National Certificate in Security [Level 2]. ETITO, a multi-industry ITO which includes coverage for security, is working with Te Puni Kokiri on the Maori Wardens project pilot.

“As a totally voluntary organisation, national qualifications training is a big commitment for the Maori Wardens," says ETITO Client Relationship Manager Stuart Lawrence. "However their enthusiasm, when it comes to combining what they already do and know, to achieve a national qualification is fantastic to see." More information
